On World Environment Day, June 5th, Friends of Port River (FPR) launched online the Estuary Care Foundation’s (ECF) Future Vision for the Port River and Barker Inlet Estuary.
The Board of ECF decided to develop a Future Vision in 2022 in anticipation of ECF closing. Catherine McMahon and Alena Gerlek developed the content and Tom Lindley-Donaldson did the creative execution and provided communication advice.
David Simmons, InDaily produced an extensive feature that was published on World Environment Day.
An e-newsletter went to supporters of ECF and the Vision was also shared via a Friends of Parks e-newsletter.
A short video was shared to Facebook and YouTube and a pdf version of the Vision is available here.
Tony Flaherty and Chloe McSkimming, Green Adelaide organised a Barker Inlet Port River Forum, with over 50 people attending on June 11th from universities, industry, government and community, with the Vision first on the Agenda.
Paul Gough, ABC Adelaide Mornings did a supportive interview on June 14th (starts at 30.30 for about 12 minutes)
FPR will continue to promote the Future Vision, and to seek commitments from the three major political parties, before the 2026 SA election, to the Vision being implemented.
